Safeguarding

Illustration of a multi-coloured umbrella with a curved handle, symbolising the protective nature of safeguarding policies and their role in ensuring the safety and welfare of children.

Everyone has a statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and to maintain a professional attitude of it could happen here where safeguarding is concerned.

Marshbrook First School is committed to safeguarding children, remaining vigilant and maintaining a safe environment. Staff at the academy will act without delay to protect children and will seek to work in partnership with families and external agencies to improve the outcomes for children who are vulnerable.

All staff are encouraged to report any concerns that they have, however big or small they may be. These are reported as soon as possible to the academy safeguarding team.

We are an Operation Encompass school.  This means that we receive notification from Staffordshire Police when a domestic abuse incident has occurred in a child’s home, so that we may support the child.

The people you should talk to in school about any safeguarding concerns are:

Miss Rebecca Nixon – Designated Safeguarding Lead

Mrs Zoe Maughan- Designated Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher for Looked After Children

Miss Jill Gould- Deputy Safegurding Lead

Miss Lyndse Griffiths –Deputy Safeguarding Lead

The DSL or DDSL will be available (during school hours) to discuss any safeguarding concerns. Whilst our designated safeguarding lead (or deputy) will be available in person there may be occasions when this is not possible however they will be available via email or phone.

The DSL and DDSL will be available out of school hours via email
